We stayed in Christchurch for 3 nights. The room was more of a 5 star apartment. A huge king size bed (probably the most comfortable bed I've slept in!). A big spa bath. Fully (and I mean fully!) equipped kitchen with stainless steel applicances, washer/dryer. A wall mounted LCD TV was great too. I have to mention the carpet which must have been 3 inches thick. If the bed wasn't so comfy I'd have probably slept on the floor.

We came for a night with no expectations. The friendly owners put us into the honeymoon suite with a smile... We have stayed at a few motels in our current trip to Christchurch but this was the best. The room was immaculate - we thought we were the first to stay - but we learned later that it had been open for the last 12 months!

The Salerno is like a second home for me. The place is maintained beautifully, and the hosts, Pauline and Brendan, are very personable and friendly and they always make me want to go back and stay there again. People like them are a big part of why I love Christchurch, New Zealand so much.

The Salerno Motel has to be the best place we have ever stayed at. It had just opened (we stayed there in April), and all the fixtures, fittings and furnishings were top quality. There was a choice of room combinations - we chose one with a spa bath, and a combined room/kitchenette. Because the cost was so economical (in relation to the excellent quality), I was able to afford to pay for my brother and his wife to stay there at the same time.

This was an absolutely gorgeous motel. We stayed for 2 nights in a 2 bedroom Apartment that had two bathrooms. The Motel has LCD TVs in both bedrooms and lounge. Full kitchen facilities and a washer/dryer within the apartment. Both rooms had king sized beds and were very, very comfortable. This was very close to the central city area and very easy to find. Given the location to the road, we expected some traffic noise but did not hear a peep once the door was shut.

The Hotel is very new so everything is in excellent condition. Location: 5 minutes walk into Christchurch Cathedral Square, very handy and you can't get lost. Plenty of eating places on the way and souvenir shops too.

I was traveling with my cousins, who are free spirited folk, so we never booked ahead. We just lucked out when we found the Salerno through the Info Office in Christchurch. It has incredible rooms and the affable and expert proprietors, Pauline and Brendan, made us feel right at home.

This place is excellent. Our room was super, very modern, clean and comfy with a great bed - we did not want to get up in the morning. The location is very good too, only a short walk to the main roads of the central Christchurch. I would definitely stay here again, you get value for money and unmatched quality.

After driving around NZ in a camper van for 3 weeks before arriving in Christchurch, we almost jumped for joy when we saw how nice this motel was.
It was impeccably clean, modern and the bathroom with the jacuzzi bath was a lovely extra. The room was stylishly decorated with a large flat screen TV. The bed was extremely comfortable.
The owners were very friendly, and were particularly accommodating when we asked for a late checkout to coincide with our flight.
Whilst the motel is on a main road, we heard no noise, and the hotel is in a perfect position to walk into the centre of the city.

The Salerno was an attractive very comfortable place to stay. The apartment had everything including a washer/dryer. We stayed in a two bedroom two bath apartment and loved the warm bathrooms and great amenities. The owner was very helpful and gave us a great restaurant recommendation when we found that the ones in our guide book had closed! Would defintiely stay there again.
